Academic Counselor
The counseling department at Notre Dame Catholic School strives to provide relevant educational, emotional and college preparation information to the students and family members of Notre Dame. The Notre Dame Counseling Department is in place to help our students find a college that meets their needs on an academic, social, philosophical, and economic level. Notre Dame Catholic School strives to form disciples of Jesus Christ through hard work, Christian character formation and a familial atmosphere. Helping our students move oNwarD allows our students to grow into great pillars of their community as the strive to reach their goals.

Checklist tips for a successful High School experience:
Freshman Year:
- Academic plan with guidance counselor
- Begin researching colleges: costs, financial aid info, admissions requirements, majors offered, etc.
- Utilize collegeboard.com for test prep
- Initial Resume Construction
- Take PSAT during school year at ND
Sophomore Year:
- Review academic plan
- Attend College Fairs
- Continue to research colleges and majors
- Begin looking and applying for ACT & SAT testing dates
- Update high school resume
- College research
Junior Year:
- Take the ACT and/or SAT
- Dual credit classes from VC or MWSU
- Go on college visits
- Attend college fairs
- Check graduation requirements are being met
- Update college resume
- College counseling advising
- Continue with collegeboard.com prep
Senior Year:
- Request require references
- Apply to colleges
- Attend college fairs
- Attend FAFSA night (Fall)
- Visit with your counselor regarding college, scholarships and the future
- Discern acceptances
- Apply for scholarships
- Graduate!
