Back To School Letter

Dear Notre Dame Catholic School Families:

As we approach the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year, we are very excited about so many things happening and planned at Notre Dame Catholic School. The administrative staff has been hard at work this summer trying to make sure that the next school year starts off well and I am sure that our faculty is taking time during these summer months to both rejuvenate themselves and to prepare to have a great year in the classrooms. All of us are looking forward to the return of your student(s) to our classrooms on Wednesday, August 16.

2017 – 2018 Student -Parent Handbook
The 2017-2018 Student-Parent Handbook is available on the school website under the ‘About’ tab, if you have not already had the opportunity to review it and sign it. Please make sure that you have done this prior to the first day of classes. I invite you to review the section on dress code so that any questions or clarifications can be looked into.

Dress Code
Regarding dress code, please look thoroughly at the dress code options for your student(s) to ensure that they are in good condition and in full compliance with the student dress code. Some uniform items such as monogrammed ties, girls ¾ sleeve blouses, and plaid items are only available from Parker Uniforms. They can be contacted at 888-891-0999 or at Boys ties are available at the school. All other items of the dress code may be purchased online or from local retailers provided that they meet the guidelines of the dress code.

Tuition Payments & Billing
If you have not already registered with FACTS for tuition payments and/or billing, please do so as soon as possible. Having an account with FACTS makes billing for tuition and other necessary charges much easier for both the school and for families. New families must visit and register to set up a 10-month, 11-month, or 12-month payment plan once the 2017-2018 school year billing goes live in July. Returning families already set up in FACTS will be able to make changes to their payment plan via the FACTS website as desired. Students may be prohibited from attending class until all required paperwork and financial arrangements are complete. Any tuition or tuition assistance questions should be directed to Mrs. Laura Bates, NDCS Business Manager, at 940-692-6041 or at

Being Prepared for Day One
Office staff will be available during the day the week of August 7th-11th for the payment of tuition/fees, to drop off or pick up any outstanding forms that need to be completed (medical forms, student-parent handbook receipt page, free/reduced lunch applications, updated emergency contact cards), for parents to drop off school supplies for the students at the Lower Campus and for students at the Upper Campus to get their schedules and put books in their lockers.

First Week of School for 3K, 4K, and Kindergarten
3K, 4K and Kindergarten students’ schedule for the first week of school will vary slightly. Half of each class will meet on the first day, Wednesday, August 16 and then the second half will meet the next, Thursday, August 17. This schedule will repeat for Friday and Monday. All students in each class will come together for the first time on Tuesday, August 22. Your student’s teacher will be contacting you before the beginning of the school year to inform you of his or her schedule.
Hours for 3K, 4K and 5K are 8 a.m. to 3:00 pm.  Students attending ½ days in 3K & 4K are dismissed at 11 a.m.  We must have birth certificates and up-to-date immunizations on file before the first day of school.

There is to be no unnecessary loitering on-campus outside of what is stated in the Student-Parent Handbook.

Extended Day will be available at the Lower Campus one hour early on these days at half-price charge to the parent/guardian for that hour.

Extended Day
Extended Day is available at the Lower Campus for our elementary students and at the Upper Campus cafeteria for middle school students on most days from dismissal until 6:00 pm. An additional charge of $6.00 per hour is required for this service and must be paid monthly through your FACTS account. Extended Day hours start on Wednesday, August 16.

Medical Information
Notre Dame Catholic School is required to have Emergency Care Forms and a record of immunization for all students. New students and athletes are also required to have a physical exam with the results provided to the school before beginning practice for athletics or starting school. Physicals may not be performed by a chiropractor. Students who have had rubella (measles) must have verification from a doctor giving the dates of the illness. If you cannot provide verification, the student must have a rubella vaccination. Students entering the 9th grade, all students new to Notre Dame, and all students participating in athletic activities must have a new medical examination on file. The immunization form must be in the office before the first day of school. The physical exam forms are available in the school office. Proof of insurance on students is also required for those participating in athletics. The Medication Permit Form must be signed by your doctor and on file in the front office for your student to take any medication. The includes over-the-counter medications such as cough drops and Tylenol/Advil. These must be in the original packaging. A separate Medication Permit Form is required for each medication given to your child. Without this form on file, we will not be allowed to dispense medication to your child.

Thank you so much for your attention to this letter and for your continued support of Notre Dame Catholic School. We look forward to continuing to partner with you as we seek to form our students in both wisdom and in virtue. We anticipate it being a great year.

Warmest Regards and God bless,

Michael W Edghill
