Family Service Hours
Family Service Hours
What: Each Notre Dame family is asked to give a minimum of 15 service hours per school year (June 1 – May 31). Also, for every $10 spent towards a donation or purchase, 1 service hour may be earned. All individuals must complete “Keeping Children Safe” as required by the Diocese prior to volunteering.
Why: The benefits of total family involvement in our Notre Dame community are real and numerous. Parents, guardians, grandparents, and other relatives working on behalf of Notre Dame Catholic School help to strengthen and increase our spiritual, scholastic, and physical environment is amazingly clear! Kids at schools that have more parent involvement perform better. In addition, service hours provided by family members help provide an economic bridge between tasks necessary to operate our school and the ever-increasing demands of our budget.
How: Service hours may be counted for volunteering in any of the countless activities sponsored by Notre Dame Catholic School, the PTO (Parent-Teacher Organization), Athletic Booster Club, or Band Parents Organization. For those parents who are unable to assist during school hours, there are ample opportunities available on weeknights, weekends, and even some service which can be performed at home.
Note: non-school sponsored activities (Cub/Boy Scouts; Girl Scouts; YMCA sports teams, etc.) are NOT considered for family service hours. Monetary or in-kind donations cannot be considered for family service hours if they are claimed as a tax-deduction.
